Can ASIO4ALL 2.21 run on Windows 7?

The two official statements describe different levels of support. The 2.21 release notes say the version is confirmed to work with Windows 7 and Windows 8, although minor GUI visual artifacts may appear. The current download page lists Windows 10 as the minimum required operating system. Together, those facts mean practical legacy compatibility without formal current support.

A driver that launches is not necessarily suitable for a reliable production workstation. The underlying audio-device driver, DAW version, plugin versions, USB controller, and Windows security state also matter. Many current applications no longer test Windows 7, so a problem attributed to ASIO4ALL may originate elsewhere in the unsupported software stack.

Use the current official file only when you have a clear reason to maintain the legacy machine and a recovery plan. Do not download an arbitrary old version merely because its release date is closer to the operating system.
